Advances in Physiology Education
Advances in Physiology Education is dedicated to the improvement of teaching and learning physiology and to the advancement of physiology as a teaching profession. It publishes peer-reviewed descriptions of new strategies for teaching, reports of education research, critical reviews of current educational practice, essays on physiology education, and articles that organize the content of physiology for problem-centered learning. Columns provide reviews of textbooks and computer software, notices and reports of meetings of interest to physiology teachers, and abstracts of relevant articles from other journals.

American Biology Teacher
The American Biology Teacher, a nationally recognized journal, brings you specific how-to-do-it suggestions for the classroom and laboratory, field activities, interdisciplinary programs, and articles on recent advances in biology and life science. Each issue features reviews of books, classroom technology products, and "Biology Today." Published 9 times a year, the journal also covers the social and ethical implications of biology and ways to incorporate such concerns into instructional programs.

American Journal of Education
Founded as School Review in 1893, AJE acquired its present name in November 1979. The Journal seeks to bridge and integrate the intellectual, methodological, and substantive diversity of educational scholarship, and to encourage a vigorous dialogue between educational scholars and practitioners. To achieve that goal, papers are published that present research, theoretical statements, philosophical arguments, critical syntheses of a field of educational inquiry, and integrations of educational scholarship, policy, and practice.

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education

The aim of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education (BAMBED) is to assist in the teaching of biochemistry and molecular biology at the college, graduate school and medical school level throughout the world. The main intended audience of BAMBED is instructors at universities and colleges who teach biochemistry, molecular biology, and related fields such as microbiology and cell biology. Articles are welcomed on teaching techniques and practice in all areas related to these fields, and on methods of assessment of the effectiveness of new educational approaches. Articles are also encouraged on research in biochemistry and molecular biology education. Short reviews will be accepted or solicited from time to time on key areas of biochemical knowledge from workers active in the field. Such reviews are intended to provide background material for the preparation of lectures. Articles providing details of simple, tried and tested, laboratory experiments are especially encouraged. Those interested in secondary school outreach may submit papers aimed at increasing awareness of college and university faculty toward possibilities for contributing to the ongoing education of secondary school teachers.

Bioscene: Journal of College Biology Teaching

Bioscene: Journal of College Biology Teaching is the refereed, quarterly publication of the Association of College and University Biology Educators (ACUBE).


BioScience is the journal of the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS). In BioScience, authors weave the interests of diverse sciences into timely overviews of research and essays on biological education, policy, and history. A peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal for biologists, BioScience is intended for readers reaching a broad perspective on current research in biology. BioScience also contains professionally written feature articles on the latest frontiers in biology, opinions and debates, book reviews, news about AIBS, and a political column, Washington Watch. Periodic special issues provide an in-depth look at important topics.

Cell Biology Education

Cell Biology Education is an online, quarterly journal owned and published by the American Society for Cell Biology. The Journal publishes peer-reviewed articles on life science education at the K-12, undergraduate and graduate levels. The American Society for Cell Biology believes that learning in biology encompasses diverse fields, including math, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, and the interdisciplinary intersections of biology with these fields. Within biology, CBE is particularly interested in how students are introduced to the study of life sciences, as well as approaches in cell biology, developmental biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, and proteomics. The age level of the target audience may be K-12, community college, comprehensive college or university students, graduate students, postdocs, or teacher training at any level.

Conservation Biology

The journal publishes scientific papers on topics such as population ecology and genetics, ecosystem management, freshwater and marine conservation, landscape ecology, and the many human dimensions of conservation and is the most frequently cited conservation journal in the world. Articles on conservation biology education appear in a special section in some issues.

Educational Researcher

Educational Researcher (ER) is published nine times per year and is received by all members of AERA. It contains scholarly articles of general significance to the educational research community from a wide range of disciplines. ER's Features section publishes articles that report, synthesize, or analyze scholarly inquiry-especially manuscripts that focus on the interpretation, implication, or significance of research in education-and manuscripts that examine developments important to the field of educational research.

International Journal of Educational Research

Education, as a central institution in modern societies, has contributed much to human welfare. These contributions include intellectual, social and economic development as well as the enlargement of knowledge and an increased understanding of culture. Greater educational effectiveness and productivity can contribute even more to the advancement of nations. Research is one means by which educational effectiveness and productivity can be studied and ultimately improved. Educators, policy makers, and researchers in every country can benefit from the most significant investigations conducted in a variety of countries throughout the world. The purpose of this journal is to make such investigations more widely available. Issued eight times per year, each issue consists of a research monograph on a single topic or an edited, thematic collection of closely related papers. Each issue will contain a maximum of 45,000 words, with a range of 42,500 to 45,000 a reasonable target for contributors.

Journal of College Science Teaching

The main purpose of the Journal of College Science Teaching is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on and experiences with undergraduate science courses, particularly those for the nonscience major. Publishing in JCST is also an opportunity to report and discuss innovative teaching materials, methods, and evaluative criteria; disseminate contributions toward improving college science instruction; and describe work in disciplinary science courses that is broad enough in its approach to appeal to teachers in other scientific fields. All manuscripts are peer reviewed.

Journal of Research in Science Teaching

Journal of Research in Science and Teaching, the official journal of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching, publishes reports for science education researchers and practitioners on issues of science teaching and learning and science education policy. Scholarly manuscripts within the domain of the Journal of Research in Science and Teaching include, but are not limited to, investigations employing qualitative, ethnographic, historical, survey, philosophical, or case study research approaches; position papers; policy perspectives; critical reviews of the literature; and comments and criticism.

Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (JoSoTL)

JoSoTL is designed to encourage all instructors to engage in the discussion of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and to become involved in the sharing of knowledge and learning about the teaching-learning process. Any report about an investigation into what works (or doesn't work) for a particular teaching-learning context will be considered for publication. Those submissions that include reflective commentary about the result of the investigation will be considered of greater value to our readership and more appealing for publication. The journal shall also consider submissions that offer opinion, thoughtful reflection, commentary, or theoretical ideas related to SoTL.

Journal of Science Education and Technology

Journal of Science Education and Technology is an interdisciplinary forum for the publication of original peer reviewed, contributed and invited articles to improve and enhance science education at all levels worldwide. Topics covered can be categorized as: disciplinary (biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering and the learning processes related to their acquisition and assessment of results), technological (computer, video, audio, and print), and organizational (legislation, administration, implementation, and teacher enhancement).
